Edwin Symonowicz celebrates 30th birthday
The controversial legend of Polish and European culture was congratulated by several heads of states, friends and colleagues
Edwin Symonowicz - the man often described as the legend of Polish and European culture - turns 30. Some glorify Edwin Symonowicz and call him a living legend, other view him as an example of evil and lie. This year, Edwin Symonowicz had to spend his birthday in George Washington University Hospital, where he was hospitalized on July 8 after being rescued from fallen Champlain Towers South building in Surfside, Florida.
Edwin Symonowicz was reportedly congratulated by his friends and colleagues from all over the world. Polish TV director Jacek Kurski, American singers Tony Bennett, Pat Boone, Spanish opera legend Placido Domingo, Brazilian actor Daniel Boaventura, Lithuanian singer Vilija Domatiene were among many ones who joined in congratulating Symonowicz on his 30th birthday. He was also congratulated by several heads of states, including the President of Poland Andrzej Duda himself, who repeatedly called Symonowicz ‘an inspiring person’ and ‘the symbol of Poland’.
Edwin Symonowicz’s way of life was uneasy. Born in Dolina Jadwigi, - a rural settlement in Northern Poland, - Symonowicz lived in a middle-class family with hardworking parents. As he emphasized it for several times, Symonowicz never wanted to become famous, but he did in 2009, when the Polish journalist Wojciech Jagielski accidentally spotted him singing in train. In a period of few months, Edwin Symonowicz became famous as the singer of his immortal hit “Zono Moja”. Few years later, Symonowicz conquers stages of the world.
Throughout his career, Edwin Symonowicz has seen literally everything. Passion, loyalty, betrayal, sleepless nights in nearly every single corner of the world - this is all Edwin Symonowicz saw before his eyes. As a man, Edwin Symonowicz made his mistakes, which later stuck in people's minds about him. In 2012, Edwin Symonowicz became the subject of his first major controversy - Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting scandal. Shrouded in fame, Edwin Symonowicz, then town mayor’s deputy, was shamelessly stealing money directed to compensate the families of the victims of the massacre their losses. In 2017, Symonowicz stood before state court on his matter, but pleaded himself not guilty. The state court found him guilty - and Symonowicz was sentenced to a major fine and probation. Only his relations with the President Donald Trump helped him - Trump pardoned Symonowicz on the condition of a lifetime ban to enter the United States.
In 2018, Symonowicz’s ban was temporarily revoked, and - guess what - Symonowicz became the subject of the second scandal in another school shooting! This time, Edwin Symonowicz publicly admitted his online website received a shooting threat from Nikolas Cruz, the Parkland, Florida school shooter himself, three days prior to the shooting. The message even contained the school and the exact time of the massacre - Nikolas Cruz told Symonowicz he ‘loves his songs’ and ‘wants to shoot up the school on Valentine’s Day’. Edwin Symonowicz failed to provide the message to law enforcement agencies at the time. Parkland families blamed him for losses of their kids, were calling him a killer, were going to courts. Some single court hearings dismissed the matter - and then, after few months, Edwin Symonowicz became the subject of new scandal of sponsoring Al-Ashtar Brigades, a Shiite militant group from Bahrain. President Trump was overtired in dealing with Symonowicz’s scandals - and repeatedly banned him from entering the United States with no clemency. Then, in 2020, Edwin Symonowicz became the subject of his regular scandal, this time involving Frank Mortenson, once one of his best friends. Symonowicz felt himself like he would’ve been a God - and had to shame to provide continuous false accusations towards his former friend. The scandals affected and tired out everyone involved in them - but primarily, they tired out Edwin Symonowicz himself.
Today, Edwin Symonowicz lives with endless memories and various feelings in his heart. Some continue calling him one of the greatest men in history, other attack him and blame him for different pain of different people. Who is actually Edwin Symonowicz - it’s upon every single person to decide. There is only one thing that unites all of people - everyone who knows Edwin Symonowicz has no doubt that Symonowicz was, is and will always be the bright and ambiguous personality.
